Yo,

According to Muck Rack’s “State of Journalism 2022,” more than half of journalists publish five or more stories a week, cover four beats, and produce stories for at least two mediums.

I’m exhausted just reading that. It’s too much!

What a dream it would be to have the infrastructure to truly focus on making great work, regardless of how productive you were.

A solitary stay at a lakeside cabin is romantic because of the copious amounts of free time it implies. Every writer, including myself, believes that if it were just for a lack of distraction, we could finally write a brilliant novel. If only we had the time.

That’s what’s romantic about the whole cabin thing. It’s the free time. The focus.

It’s not that you would be “working from home.”
